Les populations locales se trouvent souvent d\u00e9munies face \u00e0 ces \u00e9v\u00e8nements et n\u2019ont plus d\u2019autres choix que de constater les impacts sur leur territoire et leur mode de vie.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

La garantie de succ\u00e8s d\u2019un projet de conservation marine et l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 d\u2019une aire marine prot\u00e9g\u00e9e reposent sur leur capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 f\u00e9d\u00e9rer les communaut\u00e9s locales autour d\u2019activit\u00e9s d\u2019objectifs communs autour de la pr\u00e9servation de la nature.<\/p>

L\u2019\u00e9tablissement d\u2019un espace naturel prot\u00e9g\u00e9 \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 d\u2019activit\u00e9s humaines peut \u00eatre la source de nombreux conflits d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat. Le parc marin local peut \u00eatre per\u00e7u comme un obstacle au d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de la r\u00e9gion, du fait des restrictions d\u2019usage du milieu marin qu\u2019il impose aux locaux.<\/p>

De plus, les communaut\u00e9s c\u00f4ti\u00e8res isol\u00e9es ne sont pas toujours sensibilis\u00e9es aux probl\u00e8mes environnementaux de leur r\u00e9gion, si bien que leurs pr\u00e9occupations premi\u00e8res, tourn\u00e9es vers leurs conditions de vie, l\u2019emploi et l\u2019acc\u00e8s aux ressources peuvent engendrer un manque d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat et d\u2019engagement envers ces enjeux.<\/p>

Ces communaut\u00e9s, dont la p\u00e9rennit\u00e9 d\u00e9pend de l\u2019\u00e9tat des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes proches desquels elles vivent, n\u2019ont pas toujours conscience que l\u2019utilisation durable des ressources naturelles peut leur apporter \u00e0 des b\u00e9n\u00e9fices \u00e9conomiques \u00e0 long terme.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Les communaut\u00e9s c\u00f4ti\u00e8res isol\u00e9es ne b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement que de peu d\u2019attention au niveau national, r\u00e9gional ou international. Ces territoires sont souvent en proie \u00e0 une d\u00e9vitalisation \u00e9conomique corr\u00e9l\u00e9e \u00e0 une d\u00e9croissance d\u00e9mographique.<\/p>

Au manque d\u2019opportunit\u00e9s \u00e9conomiques s\u2019ajoute dans certains territoires une d\u00e9gradation\u2014ou absence\u2014des services publics (\u00e9ducation, sant\u00e9, acc\u00e8s aux ressources) qui encourage d\u2019autant plus le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne d\u2019exode, en particulier des jeunes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n <\/a>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Blue Business Incubator<\/h4>\n

The blue entrepreneurship incubator<\/h2>\n

With a view to reconnecting local communities with conservation, we have developed a community-based business incubator: the Blue Business Incubator.<\/p>\n

The aim is to encourage the development of environmentally friendly microbusinesses as a means of engaging the local population in protecting local marine and coastal biodiversity. Each incubator is tailored to local needs and is designed with members of the community.<\/p>\n

The first incubator was established in 2019 on the island of Lastovo, in Croatia, in partnership with the WWF Adria and the Croatian ethical bank ZEF. In addition to helping protect local marine and coastal ecosystems, the Lastovo incubator responded to an urgent need to re-establish dialogue among the various stakeholders and promote social acceptance of the local nature park. . Four years later, encouraged by the positive results of this pilot project, we are rolling out the project more widely.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Circular economy<\/h4>\n

Driving more resilient ecosystems<\/h2>\n

Recognising the direct link between protecting land ecosystems and marine ecosystems, the Blue Business Incubator supports initiatives connected with both sea and land. For a business to be considered, the only condition is that it has sustainability and economic circularity at its heart.<\/p>\n

So it was that on Lastovo, eight entrepreneurs joined our incubator, seeking support for a wide range of projects, including sustainable fishing and farming, ecotourism, soft mobility, waste recycling and preserving traditional skills.<\/p>\n

Over the years, the Blue Business Incubator has strengthened cooperation and synergies among the various entrepreneurs. It has helped previously unconnected actors to establish dialogue, and has generated a special dynamic surrounding sustainable development and environmental protection.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Revolving fund issuing microcredits<\/h4>\n

Supporting access to innovative funding sources<\/h2>\n

Besides supplying each entrepreneur with tailored training (help to build their economic model and business plan), the incubator also provides them with financial support.<\/p>\n

The most distinctive feature of the BBI is that it provides access to a rolling fund, made available in partnership with a local ethical bank, which provides financial support to entrepreneurs in the form of low-interest microcredits. In return, the entrepreneurs must invest this money in a way that will enhance the project\u2019s sustainability.<\/p>\n

When the loan is reimbursed, it is automatically returned to the fund, so that the money can be used to help other entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

The financial support provided by the incubator offers these businesses economic viability and financial sustainability, while enabling the entrepreneurs to become more self-sufficient. In this way, the BBI contributes to job creation and securing a reliable business income and, more widely, to the appeal of the region as a whole and associated socio-economic benefits for current and future generations.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Regional revitalisation<\/h4>\n

Revitalising remote coastal communities<\/h2>\n

Empowering micro-businesses should infuse the local area with a new energy, as well as fostering greater cooperation and exchange and new partnerships among the local community. As such, the Blue Business Incubator aims to revitalise regions by making them more attractive. <\/p>\n

To help prevent coastal communities from becoming isolated, our long-term goal is to establish a network of incubators that can serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and know-how among entrepreneurs, donors, associations and other actors involved in sustainable business.<\/p>\n
